Retail Marketing and Customer services
The section is responsible for the growth, efficiency and aftercare of all telecommunication services supplied by Cable & Wireless to customers in St. Helena. This includes telephone, internet and television services. The section is the focal point for all customer enquiries, comments and/or complaints and takes the lead role in marketing the services on offer with an aim to serve customers with high quality global communications, which meet or exceed their expectations.

Networks
The engineering complex at The Briars is operated and maintained by the Networks Section. The section is responsible for the provision and restoration of all customer services from the central systems to the customer’s location within specified timeframes. The section ensures the integrity of the central systems and strives to achieve best practice in the performance of these systems, which includes telephone switch, international maintenance centre (IMC), radio systems, television central control and internal terminal equipment. The section provides a high degree of technical expertise and support.

Traffic
The section manages the traffic data collection, analysis and statistical functions within the Business Unit. The section is relied on for the provision of information, which facilitates the monitoring of Business Unit performance targets. It is specifically concerned with the management and operation of the Ringmaster charging module and with the monitoring of service continuity, international call and international switch anomalies. The section establishes and maintains close interactive communications with all corresponding carriers and ensures teamwork and co-operation with other Cable & Wireless Business Units in the South Atlantic.

Information systems
The section is responsible for the maintenance, security and integrity of the Business Unit’s information systems and internet terminal equipment. The primary functions include the acquisition and allocation of hardware and software, including installation and upgrading, the provision of software support and the monitoring of software usage and the maintenance and integrity of the networks. The section is responsible for the administration of all local internet servers and for ensuring that provision and restoration of customer services is carried out to the highest standards.

Finance
The Business Unit has a dedicated Finance Department whose primary function is to ensure that the financial status of the Business Unit is accurately recorded and monitored and which is the focal point of all financial transactions and reporting. The section provides financial support and expert advice to the other sections of the Business Unit and is responsible for the monitoring of all actual and forecast expenditure, for the operation of credit control and for ensuring compliance of the Business Unit with all financial procedures and regulations.

Human resources and administration
The section is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the human resource function of the Business Unit, including training and development, and health and safety. The section provides support and advice to all sections on terms and conditions of employment, and administrative and personal assistant support to the Manager of the Business Unit.

Contact Centre Services
The Contact Support Centre which was formed in December 2006 is responsible for the efficient running of the General/Directory Enquiry services, Fault Reporting, Television Service and Ship to Shore facilities that are provided by Cable & Wireless South Atlantic Ltd on St. Helena. The Centre is also responsible for the aftercare of all the telecommunication services provided. Additional responsibilities include all of the operator services that were provided by Cable & Wireless on Ascension Island.
