IP-VPN

Cable&Wireless Worldwide IP-VPN is a private, MPLS-based wide area networking service available in over 100 countries across the globe.

IP-VPN QoS allows organisations to consolidate business-critical communications onto a single, high availability IP WAN. Quality of service is assured by five different classes, which allocate bandwidth to your real time and delay-sensitive applications to protect their performance against congestion.

It offers a choice of access methods, including the latest Ethernet and ADSL2+ technologies, allowing sites to be connected at a range of scalable, cost-effective bandwidths up to 1Gbps. Remote workers can connect securely via Cable&Wireless Worldwide managed internet gateways and authentication servers.

Centred on our Multi Service Platform (MSP), IP-VPN QoS is often combined with other Cable&Wireless Worldwide services to help customers reduce costs, and improve their service and productivity. Services that can be provided over IP-VPN QoS include: IP Voice, Application Performance Management, Managed Video Conferencing, IP-CCTV, contact centre, hosting and data centre services.

HOW IT WORKS

An IP Virtual Private Network (IP-VPN) is configured over the Cable&Wireless Worldwide MPLS based network platform. Sites can communicate on an ‘any to any’ basis and there are no meshed circuit configurations, unlike Frame Relay or ATM backbones, so it’s quick and simple to add new sites and expand your network in line with your business.

IP-VPN QoS is typically provided as a fully managed solution, including customer site routers. The service uses IP Quality of Service (QoS) to prioritise different types of traffic, such as real time voice, video, business data such as SAP or credit card transactions, or email, ensuring effective communications if the network becomes congested. A site’s service bandwidth can usually be segmented across up to five classes of service, each with its own level of priority.

BENEFITS

  • Cost effective, higher speed any-to-any networking between multiple sites.
  • Any access – connect seamlessly, using a variety of next generation access technologies to suit site or user location, budget, bandwidth and application requirements.
  • Highly scalable – it’s easy to add and remove sites from your network and site bandwidths can be throttled so that you need only pay for what you need.
  • Business quality communications – five classes of service that prioritise real time, business critical communications and guarantee a consistent, high quality performance.
