Cable&Wireless Worldwide win global government telecoms contract
14 September 2010: Cable&Wireless Worldwide, a leading provider of mission critical communications, has signed a global telecoms framework contract with the UK Government, consisting of a highly resilient global network and a suite of advanced IP services. The FCO has become the first government department to purchase services from the framework in an £82 million, five and a half year partnership.
- Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) signs £82* million, five and a half year contract
- Global telecoms framework for managed services to more than 150 countries
- Anticipated that other government departments will separately contract for services under the agreement
- Includes Next-Generation Network (NGN) and advanced IP data and voice services
*After the roll-out phase, the first material financial impact of this contract is expected in 2011/12
