Europe

Europe, though politically integrated, can be frustratingly fragmented for companies wanting to do business across borders in the region. With 50 sovereign states, as many languages, regulatory standards and multiple local telecoms providers, it's clear why this is so. Fortunately, Cable&Wireless Worldwide has the presence, expertise and connections to simplify and streamline your organisation's European business transactions.

Capability

We are one of the ‘big three' suppliers of IP services to FTSE350 customers, and one of the leading names in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Pan-European Network Service Providers. In the UK, we are the second largest service provider and the only one dedicated to supplying business customers.

We recently launched our next-generation Multi-Service Platform (MSP) network in 21 European locations. We can now manage and monitor business-critical systems and applications centrally, providing multinational companies working in European markets with a single, flexible and cost-effective communications option. In addition, we offer flexible commercial arrangements, including exacting SLAs for customers throughout Europe.

Ireland

Cable&Wireless Worldwide has over 30 years' experience of working for businesses in Ireland. We carry traffic for all the country's major providers, and our customers include Ryanair, Tesco Ireland and Viridian.

We have offices in Belfast, Cork, Shannon and Dublin, where our worldwide data centre is based, providing our customers with hosting and network management services. Our capability includes a 130 km fibre loop around Dublin, connecting all the major data centres in the region.

Our national network uses Points of Presence (POPs) in Ireland's largest cities and towns, where we interconnect with local partners to supply services to customer sites.

Our Multi-Service Platform (MSP) allows customers to integrate existing IP-VPN services into next generation Ethernet services, providing a robust, scalable and cost-effective way of future-proofing their network requirements in Ireland and beyond.

Case study - Ryanair

Ryanair is Europe's leading low-cost airline, carrying more than 60 million passengers each year. The company relies on Cable&Wireless Worldwide to provide and manage its entire telecommunications network, covering 180 airports, bases, data centres and corporate offices in 26 countries.

Ryanair is now turning to the Cable&Wireless Worldwide network for its self-service kiosks, to speed up the checkin process. The touch-screen kiosks allow passengers to check-in bags and obtain boarding passes, helping Ryanair benefit from better productivity and efficiency for less cost, by using a single large telecoms network. This commercial flexibility gives Ryanair extra capacity to grow.

“WORKING WITH CABLE&WIRELESS WORLDWIDE WILL ENABLE US TO GAIN BETTER PRODUCTIVITY AND EFFICIENCY AT LOWER COSTS, BY USING A SINGLE LARGE TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORK.”

Eric Neville - IT Director, Ryanair
