Suppliers
At Cable&Wireless Worldwide we recognise that efficient and professional procurement of goods and services can make a significant contribution to the performance and profitability of the company as a whole.
Our purchasing department takes responsibility for making sure that we get the best delivery, cost and service from the suppliers and carriers that we use across the globe.
We are committed to developing strong working relationships with our supply partners, and work with the operational teams within the business to encourage good relationships with our suppliers. To this end, we always aim to articulate clearly what we need and expect from them, measuring and managing performance and delivery initiatives that help add value to the business.

PROCUREMENT
During the last few years, we've broadened our focus and now aim to improve our awareness of our suppliers' sustainability. So we've extended the assessment to cover the wider CR agenda.
As well as implementing a strong and robust assessment process covering HS&E in selection and control of suppliers, it also involves many aspects of their businesses such as labour relations, environmental management and corporate governance.
We rate our key global suppliers according to risk as high, medium or low and this is the first step to identify opportunities to work more closely with them on various aspects of CR, including reducing the carbon footprint of our supply chain. We review these assessments annually, using internationally recognised benchmarks such as the ILO Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Global Compact.
WORLDWIDE
Our purchasing department takes responsibility for making sure that we get the best service, delivery and cost from the suppliers and carriers that we use across the globe.
As a global organisation with global customers, we're fully aware of our potential impact on society and the environment. That's why our procurement processes and policies need a global perspective.
We place great importance on managing and developing our key supplier relationships. In particular, we want to improve quality through a greater understanding of our suppliers' own supply chains. This allows us to gain a better insight into the social and environmental issues facing our suppliers and how they manage them.
For further information on how we manage our key suppliers, see our Purchasing Policy.
